More than thirty ministries, from the altar to the food pantry.
About nine hundred families belong to St. Aloysius, and volunteers keep most of its ministries running — serving at Mass, singing, staffing the food pantry, counting collections, cooking funeral luncheons. At the altar
Lectors
Proclaim the Scriptures and the prayers of the faithful at Mass — workbooks and training provided. The weekend rotation is light: about every other month at the morning Masses. Contact Paul Rosenberger, Director of Music & Liturgy, (419) 352-4195.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
Share the Eucharist at Mass and with the homebound, in three-month rotations. Contact Paul Rosenberger, (419) 352-4195.
Altar Servers
Grade 4 and up, after First Communion — sign-ups each fall, training in October; adults serve weekday Masses. Contact Tom Konecny, konecny1@yahoo.com.
Ushers
Seating, collections, bulletins, and help when someone needs it during Mass. Talk to any usher after Mass or call the office.
Funeral Team
Three rotating teams who assist families at funeral Masses — setup, seating, and hospitality. Contact the parish office, (419) 352-4195.
Children’s Liturgy of the Word
The Sunday Gospel read and explained for ages 4–8 during the 10:15 Mass — currently on hiatus and looking for new leaders. Contact Michael Ginnetti, ginnetti.m@stalbg.org.
Music
Canticle Choir
SATB choral ensemble, September through Pentecost — high schoolers to grandparents, BGSU students welcome. Rehearsals Thursdays 7:30 p.m.; sings 1st/3rd Sundays at 10:15 and 2nd/4th/5th at noon.
Folk Choir
Guitar, bass, woodwinds, percussion, and voices of every level — Tuesdays 6:30 p.m.; sings 1st/3rd Sundays at noon and 2nd/4th/5th at 10:15, plus the monthly bilingual Mass.
Handbell Choir
Three octaves of Malmark handbells — if you can read basic notation, you can learn; substitutes welcome. Tuesdays 6:00–7:00 p.m.; plays about monthly.
Cantors
Lead the sung prayer of the assembly at Sundays, holy days, weddings, and funerals. Auditioned; coached by the director.
School Masses
Classes lead the music at weekly school Masses with student cantors and percussionists.
