How a year of FX3 works
Twice a month, Sunday mornings
Sessions run 9:05–10:05 a.m., in the hour between the 8:00 and 10:15 Masses, on the second and fourth Sundays from September through May. December and March have one session each, due to Christmas and Easter. The full calendar is on this page.
Adults
The hour is real adult formation. Most of us were last taught the faith as children; this is where that stops being true. The first session each month is together, and at the second, men and women meet separately at the same hour. You leave with a deeper understanding of the Faith, and deeper intimacy with God and your community.
Kids
Preschool through 8th grade. As we have done in past years, grade-school students have two sessions a month with trained catechists, growing in the faith and in friendship with their Catholic peers. Preschoolers have their own class this year. Sacramental preparation is no longer part of FX3 — it is now its own program, P.R.E.P.; details to come.
Teens
High-school-age teens take part in the adult sessions rather than a children’s group — the same hour, the same teaching, sitting with the grown-ups. They are encouraged to also join the parish’s high school ministry program.
No cost to attend
There is no cost to attend. None. Nothing to buy, nothing to register and pay for. It is for every person in the parish — school family or not, married or single, young or old — and every session stands on its own, so come to one or come to all.
An optional home kit
For households with children who want more at home, a $70 kit from Sophia Institute Press — the A Family of Faith Parent Guide and children’s Activity Guide — is available. It is a way to carry the month into the week. It is not required, and nothing taught in the room depends on it.

Frequently asked questions
When does Fx3 meet?

Who is Fx3 for?
Every person in the parish — married with a full pew of children, single, empty-nested, living with a disability, young or old, or quietly wondering whether there is still a place for you here. There is. There most certainly is.
Is Fx3 for school families?
Yes. Entirely. For years Fx3 was the religious-education track for children who did not attend St. Aloysius School, so school families had every reason to think it was not for them. That is no longer what this is. The school gives your child excellent catechesis in the classroom; FX3 forms the home.
What does it cost?
There is no cost to attend. None. An optional $70 home kit — the Sophia Institute Press A Family of Faith Parent Guide and children’s Activity Guide — is there for households with children who want more at home. The sessions never depend on it, and nothing taught from the front requires a book in the room. If you would like the kit but cannot manage the cost, email Autumn Rosenberger at rosen.a@stalbg.org and we will give you one free of charge.
What do the children do during the hour?
While the adults are in their session, children preschool through 8th grade have sessions of their own, run by trained catechists. They meet during the same 9:05–10:05 a.m. hour, so a family arrives and leaves together.
Can our high schooler come with us?
Yes — bring them. High-school-age teens take part in the adult sessions rather than a children’s group. They are encouraged to also join the parish’s high school ministry program.
What about Confirmation and First Communion?
Sacramental preparation is no longer part of Fx3. It is now its own program, P.R.E.P.; details to come. FX3 is the formation that runs beside it, year after year.
Is this R.S.V.P. the same as registering?
No — there is nothing to register for and no fee for the year. The R.S.V.P. simply tells us you are coming, which helps us set out the right number of chairs. If you never get to it, come anyway.
