What Mass is like

Mass lasts about an hour. You’ll hear readings from Scripture, a short homily on them, and the prayers of the Eucharist. Sit anywhere you like, and stand or kneel with your neighbors — or simply stay seated. Nobody minds.

People wear everything from Sunday best to jeans.

Common questions

Where do I park?

We’re at 131 S. Summit St. — two blocks from downtown Bowling Green, behind Taco Bell. There’s parking at the church, and street parking nearby is easy on Sunday mornings.

I’m not Catholic. Can I come?

Yes. You’re welcome at any Mass. If you have questions about the Catholic faith, Fr. Tom holds an Open Door at the rectory on the first and third Thursdays of each month, 6–8 p.m. — no appointment needed. You can also email him at frtom@stalbg.org.

Can I receive Communion?

Receiving Communion expresses full communion with the Catholic Church, so guests who aren’t Catholic — and Catholics who aren’t prepared to receive — can come forward with arms crossed over the chest for a blessing, or stay seated. Either is common.

What about my kids?

Bring them. Children are welcome at every Mass, and nobody minds the noise. The parish also runs a school (preschool through 8th grade) and faith formation for every age.

How do I become a member?

Register online anytime — it takes about five minutes — or call the parish office at (419) 352-4195 and the staff will help.

Curious about the Catholic faith?

Adults join the Catholic Church through a process called Becoming Catholic (OCIA) — for people never baptized, people baptized in other traditions, and Catholics completing Confirmation and First Communion. The group meets Monday evenings from September through Easter, and each person is paired with a sponsor.

Asking questions commits you to nothing.
